The guidance pages across this site address the majority of common questions and are updated to reflect current program policy. The Eligibility Requirements, Application Process, Allowable Expenses and Funding Rules, and Grant Acceptance and Reimbursement pages are the recommended first stop before contacting the committee directly.
For questions not resolved by those resources, the GSS Travel Grant Committee is available to assist.
How to Reach the Committee
Contact the GSS Travel Grant Committee at [email protected]. Email is the primary channel for all program inquiries.
What to Ask About
The committee responds to questions directly related to the GSS Travel Grant program, including:
- Eligibility. Questions about enrollment status, academic standing, or whether a specific participation role qualifies.
- Application requirements. Clarification on required materials and how to prepare a complete submission.
- Reimbursement. For reimbursement processing questions, applicants should first coordinate with their advisor and/or departmental business manager. The committee can address questions about program-level post-award requirements and deadlines.
- Unusual cases. Situations not clearly addressed by the guidance pages, such as travel spanning more than one quarter or coordinating multiple funding sources.
For questions outside the program’s scope, the committee can direct applicants to the appropriate university office.
Writing an Effective Inquiry
Including relevant context helps the committee respond accurately and efficiently. Omitting key details or submitting unclear inquiries may delay response times during high volume periods and, where applicable, affect timely funding acceptance. Please include all pertinent information, including:
- The quarter or funding cycle the inquiry concerns
- The event and the applicant’s participation role, such as presenter or competitor
- The specific question or issue requiring resolution
- Any guidance pages already reviewed
Response Times
Response times may take several business days, particularly near application deadlines and high volume periods. Applicants are encouraged to submit questions well in advance of deadlines to allow adequate time to act on any guidance received.
