About GSS Events
The Graduate Student Senate recognizes its duty to serve as the voice for UT graduate and professional students. Passing legislation is only one tool GSS employs to improve the lives of all graduates and professional students. The Graduate Student Senate has a long history of hosting successful, innovative events geared to both professional development and social enrichment. Events have ranged from award receptions, zoo nights, and TN Smokie baseball games to trivia nights, walks through Knoxville, workshops, and more. GSS continuously hosts events to foster social connection and re-integration among graduates and professionals as well as having a part in improving student mental health and social wellbeing.
In addition to hosting events, the Graduate Student Senate welcomes partnerships with all graduate student organizations in providing financial, logistical, and/or promotional event support.
As GSS hopes all graduate and professional students find an enriching academic and professional community within their departments, GSS also welcomes and encourages all to join the Senate, attend meetings, and/or attend events. Events provide graduate students the opportunity to meet other graduate students outside their departments in a supportive community. So come join the Graduate Student Senate and attend an event, make a new connection, and perhaps meet another scholar who will enrich your academic and professional development and future at UT.
Please reach out to our Programming and Events Chair, if you are interested in GSS working to support a group or specific event.
